ON THE FARM
Sustainable Crop Production Practices
Over the years, we’ve adopted innovative conservation practices to improve efficiency, protect natural resources, and enhance the long-term health of our soils. These strategies allow us to farm more acres while preserving the land for future generations.
-
No-Till Farming: Transitioned from conventional till to strip-till, and now 100% no-till—reducing erosion, fuel use, labor, and compaction while building soil organic matter.
-
Cover Crops: Planting winter cover crops to protect soil, improve nutrient levels, reduce compaction, manage moisture, and sequester carbon.
-
Precision Agriculture (GPS): Using GPS mapping and soil sampling to apply fertilizer, lime, and seed only where needed, increasing efficiency and yields.
-
Nutrient Recycling: Applying turkey litter as a natural fertilizer, reusing by-products to boost soil nutrients and offset commercial fertilizer costs.
-
Center Pivot Irrigation: Conserving water, energy, and time through efficient irrigation systems while improving yields.
-
Certified Nutrient Management Programs: Meeting state regulations for our turkey and swine operations while protecting the environment.
